The FDA evaluated pembrolizumab in advanced melanoma under its Breakthrough Therapy program and granted accelerated approval based upon clinical trial results showing an overall response rate of 24%. See more on Bristol Myers website.

The Good Cancer News is that - If regulatory approval is given to Bristol-Myers this would mean a breakthrough for cancer treatment. Researchers have delivered promising late-stage data on the melanoma drug.

According to research, the good cancer news is that drug has been found to extend overall survival time among previously untreated patients with advanced melanoma. Patients gained an extra four months survival time from the therapy.

The drug, Ipilimumab is designed to whip up an immune system attack on cancer cells, a new approach to stopping cancer with potential to fight an array of tumor types. An approval by FDA could mean good news to cancer patients all over.
